Ez QR is a QR/Barcode scanner and QR generator app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Key point: Ez QR does not require you to create an account. Scanning and generating QR codes works primarily on your device.
Information We Collect
1) Camera (for scanning)
If you use the real-time scanner, the app needs access to your device camera to detect QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are used only to scan codes.
2) Photos / Media (optional)
If you choose “Gallery Scan” or “Save QR to Gallery”, the app may access your selected image(s) or media storage to:
- Scan a code from an image you pick
- Save generated QR images to your device
3) Scan & Generate History (stored locally)
Ez QR can keep an activity history of scanned and generated codes so you can view previous results. This history is stored locally on your device.
4) Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, phone number, or email for account purposes.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
How We Use Information
We use the information only to provide app features, such as:
- Scanning QR codes and barcodes
- Generating QR codes (Text, WiFi, Contact/vCard)
- Showing actions like open URL, call number, compose email, or open WiFi settings
- Saving a local history so you can revisit past scans/generations
- Saving and sharing QR images when you request it
Data Storage & Security
- Local storage: History items are stored on your device.
- Gallery: If you save a QR image, it will appear in your device gallery.
- Security: We take reasonable measures to protect data stored within the app, but no method of storage is 100% secure.
Sharing & Third-Party Services
Ez QR includes a share feature that lets you share text or QR images to other apps. When you share, the receiving app’s privacy policy will apply.
The scanner uses Google ML Kit on-device capabilities to detect barcodes/QR codes. We do not send your scans to our servers for processing.
Permissions Explained
- Camera: Needed for real-time scanning.
- Photos/Media: Needed only if you scan from gallery or save QR images.
You can manage permissions anytime from your device settings. If you deny certain permissions, some features may not work.
Your Choices
- Clear history: You can delete scan/generate history from inside the app (if provided).
- Disable permissions: Revoke camera or media access from device settings.
- Stop saving content: Avoid saving QR images to gallery if you prefer.
Children’s Privacy
Ez QR is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above when changes are made.
